Welcome to Fern Grotto Inn

Fern Grotto Inn is located in Kapaa, on the bank of the Wailua River on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.

Our Kauai, Hawaii, vacation rentals are in four quaint plantation-style cottages, built in the 1940's and lovingly restored over the last 6 years. Each house is beautifully furnished and thoughtfully appointed for self-sufficiency and comfort. Small groups of up to 14 guests are easily accommodated for meetings, retreats and family gatherings. The large living room of Ohana House is a favorite group meeting spot.

You will enjoy the uncrowded, sandy beaches of Lydgate Park and Wailua Beach, just a five-minute walk from your cottage and it is three minutes from the breathtaking Opa'eka'a Falls.  

Surrounded by state park land on all sides, Fern Grotto Inn is situated in Hawaii's largest coconut grove near the historic Coco Palms Resort. Centrally located in the town of Kapaa, Fern Grotto Inn is a  short drive to all of Kauai's beaches, hiking trails and historic sites. The island offers visiting birders ample opportunities to add more than 80 species to their Life List. Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge or Hanalei NWR are each a scenie 30 minute drive from Kapaa.

Art galleries are scattered all over the island and if you appreciate horticulture, you can visit the National Tropical Botanical Gardens in Lawai. If visiting historic venues is on your list of things to do when you travel, you can tour Grove Farm Homestead, a classic sugar plantation home.

Public transportation is close by if you do not wish to rent a car.
